Did we just find out everyone is sexist, racist and homophobic?

It certainly does seem so on the face of it. The so-called "multicultural, western" nations do not seem to be that open after all. Over the last few years, we have seen hard right leaders pop up all over the world - Nigel Farage of the Brexit fame, The Don of the US, Frauke Petry of Germany, Golden Dawn of Greece, Freedom Party of Austria and now Francois Fillon of France. In India, one of the principle factors of the BJP / Modi victory in 2014 was the consolidation of the Hindu vote.

So what changed suddenly. Even till last year we seemed to be heading towards a more progressive, liberal and global society. It seems that everything has suddenly turned on its head.

The underlying currents were always there, but after Brexit and Donald Trump's victory, the metaphorical wound is out in the open. Europe has always been closed, or in the very least suspicious of outsiders - any colored person who has lived there will tell you that. In fact, many countries - including the Swiss and the Nordic nations are openly against colored people. The UK and US are "supposed" to be the more diverse nations. But they never have been - you always come across a "Paki" or "Curry face" jibe in parts of London, and liberal hubs like New York and the Silicon Valley don't get to pick the President. The truth is white people never really got off their imperialistic mindset. Hell.. they are still fighting over who gets to control the Middle East.

The farce being pulled off by the western media is that white man (and note.. I say man) has lost his identity - either personal or national - and is resorting to "taking his country back". In reality, the white man never lost his identity, country or anything else. What he lost is the "third" world - no more whipping Indians, Africans and other colored folk. No more asking your "woman" to bring your dinner. No more taming Latinos in wild west. No more Jews to gas.

In the context of the last 200 years, it has not been very long since Asian and African countries have re-gained their independence, blacks have gained their civil liberties, and women have stepped out of the kitchen to challenge men. Whatever the flaws the outgoing President of the US be, in truth, the white man could not just not palette a black family being the most powerful in world. The social hierarchy world changed in the last fifty years - the white man is no more at the top of the food chain. The white man is not disenfranchised, he is just not the dominant species anymore.

People like Farage and Trump have been praised for "calling it as it is". It's not surprising that they have sold a LIE. This is what it REALLY is. And liberals should start doing the same.

Sexists, racists and homophobes have always been there. Sadly, it is just ok to be one.. once again!!!!
